課程概述

The International Business Strategy course is to provide thinking and analytical framework for formulating and implementing strategies of an economic organization within the context of global competition. Assuming that students who take this course have some knowledge background in management and international business operations, this course will focus on how a company can explore cross-border value-creation opportunities and strategize resource allocation in order to realize sustainable growth.

Specifically, this course encompasses three subject units, which are critical to the expansion and growth of a multinational corporation. They are: (1) Creating Cross-border Competitive Advantages (i.e., Strategy unit), (2) Global Configuration and Collaboration (i.e., Corporate Growth unit), and (3) Global Coordination and Control (i.e., Organization unit). Putting together, they cover a wide range of strategic and organizational challenges that are related to the formation of firm-specific competitive advantages and continuous growth of a multinational corporation.

Pedagogically, this course relies upon business simulations and case studies to ensure participants’ immersion in both knowledge acquisition and real-world applications. In addition, we highly expect interactive discussions during the class to stimulate reflection and learning. Therefore, your before-class preparation, in-class participation and meaningful contribution to sustaining a good conversation would be a must.
